Scholarships & Funding

giftEDnz currently offers funding support for the following types of activities:

  • Conference Funding Support
  • Special Interest Group (SIG) Funding

Conference Funding Support

Are you keen to share your practice, experiences, or research with other professionals? Why not apply to present at a conference?

“The conference was certainly a meeting of the minds and it was fabulous to make connections…It was the first opportunity to present my research on gifted girls and social media at an international conference”

– Eunice Price, Conference Funding recipient 2015

giftEDnz: The Professional Association for Gifted Education welcomes your application for conference funding support. The purpose of providing this support is two-fold: to support the professional learning and development of specialists in gifted education, and to raise the profile of gifted and talented education across all sectors.

The criteria for applicants are:

  1.    Current individual or institutional membership in giftEDnz
  2.    Planned attendance at an educational conference, including an accepted presentation on gifted and talented education

Preference will be given to presentations at mainstream educational conferences for professionals (as opposed to specialist gifted and talented events or conferences for parents).  First-time presenters, including practitioners and emerging researchers, will be given priority.

Grants are available for up to and not exceeding $300 (GST inclusive) and may be used to support conference registration costs, teacher release, travel or accommodation.

All successful applications will be required to acknowledge the support of giftEDnz on their presentations and/or conference papers, by including our logo and/or an acknowledgement statement (copyright and intellectual property is that of the presenter/author). Applicants may also be asked to distribute publicity materials on behalf of giftEDnz and to write a 200-300 word conference report for our newsletter, giftEDnewz.

The Board of giftEDnz will make all decisions based on the quality of applications in relation to the goals of our association and available funding. Individuals will only be funded for one conference per annum.

Special Interest Group (SIG) Funding

giftEDnz: The Professional Association for Gifted Education welcomes your application for funding initiatives to support professionals working with gifted and talented children and young people.

We are interested in supporting equitable educational opportunities for gifted and talented learners. We would like to achieve this goal through the development and sharing of resources, including journal articles, books, websites, workshops, and so on. This may be in the form of developing a new Special Interest Group or supporting an initiative of a new or existing Special Interest Group.

Grants are available for up to and not exceeding $2000 (GST inclusive) for individuals and groups of giftEDnz members. Successful funding applicants should report back their progress and outcomes on a six-monthly basis, and each initiative must be completed within a year.

All successful applications will be required to acknowledge the support of giftEDnz on any publications, resources, presentations, websites, etc by including our logo and/or an acknowledgement statement (copyright and intellectual property is that of the developer/author).

The Board of giftEDnz will make all decisions based on the quality of applications in relation to the goals of our association and available funding.
